PRESS: Government cuts staff by 10%, eliminates 66 departments

MOSCOW, Mar 31 (PRIME) -- The number of government employees was reduced by 10%, 66 departments were closed and 33 deputy directors of the federal agencies were made redundant, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko told newspaper Izvestiya on Wednesday.

"66 structural units were eliminated, 33 posts of deputies of federal agencies’ heads were reduced. The agencies’ staff number was reduced as well: by 213 in central agencies and by 31,642 in the territorial agencies," Grogorenko said.

According to the official, this was one of the largest staff reduction in the government in the last few years.
